Paneer Matar Gravy


paneer ‘n’ peas in a rich tomato gravy

What :

  •     Paneer – 2 cups
  •     Peas – 1 cup
  •     Onion – 2 medium
  •     Tomato – 2 Big
  •     Green Chillies – 4 or 5
  •    Cloves – 2
  •    Cinnamon Stick – 1/2 inch
  •    Bay Leaf – 1 small
  •    Ginger – 1/2 inch
  •    Garlic – 2 or 3 pods
  •    Salt
  •    Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
  •    Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
  •    coriander Powder – 1.5 tsp
  •    Cumin Powder – 1/2 tsp
  •    Oil – 2 tsps
  •    Cream ( optional ) – 3 tbsp
  •    Sugar ( Optional) – 1 tsp

How :

–    Heat 1 tsp oil in a vessel & add bay leaf, cinnamon stick, cloves.

–    Ct onions, tomatoes into big chunks, slice green chillies & add all these to the pan, along with ginger & garlic. Add some salt.

–    Cover the vessel & cook till done. may be  minutes.

–    Take this mixture & puree it.

–    In the same vessel, add 1tsp oil & add this pureed mixture.

–    Add the powders. (Red chilli, Coriander, Cumin, Garam Masala) & sugar, give a nice stir.

–    Add the cubed paneer & peas & let simmer for 5 more min.

–    Check & adjust the seasoning.

–    Just before switching off, add the fresh cream, to get the rich creamy texture.
